Hi! My name is Niamh Mervyn.
I’m one of the head girls at St Genevieve’s this year and I feel extremely proud to have been elected into this role.

During my time in St Genevieve’s I have been involved in many after school activities and clubs such as the Drama club, French and Spanish clubs and also the Student Council. St Genevieve’s offers a variety of after school activities and I would encourage everyone to get involved in at least one as it is a great way to build confidence, gain skills and meet new people.
I also played part in two school shows, Oliver and Grease. I very much enjoyed being part of the shows as I am very interested in drama!

Since fifth year I have been involved with Sister Anne taking part in New Day Programmes and many other spiritual weekends. New Day has allowed me to get to know other students in my year a lot better and I enjoyed the programme very much!

For A Levels I am studying Business Studies, Drama and Media Studies. Like most A level students, I find A levels very challenging, however with help from my teachers and a lot of studying I managed to get great grades at AS level which I hope to maintain this year. Organising my time effectively has allowed me to fit in study time and also time to unwind. I would urge everyone to keep organised with school work, always make time to relax and strive do your best!

In my spare time I volunteer with the Welcome Trust which is a centre for disabled young children and adults. St Genevieve’s has given me a lot of opportunities to develop my confidence and social skills which has benefited me whilst volunteering with the Welcome Trust. I would encourage year twelve’s, thirteen’s and fourteens to get involved in as many after school activities and activities out side of school as it will be of great benefit when applying to universities and for your CV in general!

Next year I hope to study Leisure and Events management at the University of Ulster’s Coleraine Campus. I am a very organised person and feel this course would suit me very well! St Genevieve’s has given me many opportunities to develop not just my organisational skills but many more! Take every opportunity presented to you, I promise you won’t regret it!

I believe I am a very approachable person and if you have any problems or need any help don’t hesitate to ask as I would love to help!
Best of luck for the year ahead,

Niamh Mervyn.
